I have customised the inf files for both 32 and 64 bit TAP drivers that were bundled with OpenVPN.

I then installed them and attempted to use them but they are not discovered by OpenVPN.exe ...

Exactly how does OpenVPN detect if an adapter in the windows adapter list is actually a TAP-Win32 adapter. Is it simple text contains/ is like ?

Can someone shed some light on how it detects the adapters when using the --show-adapters argument.

what are your customizations for?

I have customised the name of the adapter, the manufacter and the device name.

ie: tapVPN32

[Strings]
DeviceDescription = "VPN Tunnel Adapter"
Provider = "VPN Provider"

Is this an issue?

that is not how you rename the tap device
