OpenVPN wintun connection with existing wintun adapter

I am working on an application where I have integrated multiple protocols. As the application already have protocol which is using wintun adpater for connection I am thinking to connect OpenVPN also via wintun, but it create its own wintun adapter .. I am wondering is there a way that OpenVPN dont create its own wintun instead connect with the existing wintun adapter in the network or connect directly via wintun.dll
