WIFI turns off as soon as OpenVpN Client connects

Post by rcir888 » Tue Jan 30, 2024 7:26 pm

I’m trying to establish a VPN connection between my Kindle Fire 7 (12th Generation) and my Linksys WRT3200ACM router that has as its OS OpenWrt-N3, firmware version 23.05.2. I’ve been able to connect from my computer that has OpenVPN client to the OpenVPN server on the router, but when I try to connect from the tablet using the OpenVPN Connect client for Android, the connection at first connects then almost immediately afterwards disconnects because the WIFI disconnects. I cleared the OpenVPN Connect cache on the tablet, and uninstalled the Norton antivirus on the tablet but the problem persists. Here’s the tablet log with the WAN IP address of the router redacted:

Re: WIFI turns off as soon as OpenVpN Client connects

Post by rcir888 » Thu Feb 01, 2024 10:19 pm

I changed a couple of things on the router that hosts the OpenVPN server. I fixed the time which was off because it had the wrong time zone configured, and I added a DNS server address to the router even though another server on the local network manages DHCP and DNS. The client now connects and stays connected.
