Disconnect kills Wifi

On latest version of Mac client (V3.4.4), Monterey V12.7.1 connecting to TP-Link Archer ACE7800/AXE95 OpenVPN server. First, it won't connect at all with error "cannot assign requested address". Had to flush the DNS for it to work. However, after connecting successfully and disconnect, it renders the WiFi inoperable, disabling and enabling wifi again fixes it. This seems like a bug on the OpenVPN client, has anyone else seen this issue?
