Configure subnet in subnet topology

Hello,
I want to move from net30 to subnet topology. My problem is a possibility to define subnet in my vpn network e.g. i have vpn network 10.0.0.0/16 and want to have 256 subnet inside. How it can copnfigure it? e.g. I can't ifconfig push ip 10.1.0.1 because receive a error
(10.1.0.1)violates tunnel network/netmask constraint (10.0.0.0/255.255.0.0)
Maybe I think something wrong but the point is to have one netwrok but have possibvility to split by subnet.
