Errors writing to network socket

I am running OpenVPN Connect client version 3.4.2 for MacOS. I am running MacOS Mojave (version 10.14.6) on a MacBook Pro (Intel processor).

My OpenVPN server is an ASUS RT-AC68U router.

This setup has been working for several months.

Starting yesterday (9/25/2023), I can't connect. I get "Errors writing to network socket"

What has changed? How do I fix this?

Tried all manners of things today -- nothing worked. Then, my co-worker sent me an email thanking me for whatever I did, 'cuz now the VPN was working again. I went back and tried to connect and, sure enough, worked like it always had.

I have no idea what changed, but it all works now.
