CREate OpenVpn server with dynu ddns

Hello
I hgave a board with linux Ambrian os.
Now i want to run a openvpn serer n it, to connect my homenetwork from anywehre.
do i need a ddns for it? i have a dynu ddns domain.
i found this tutorial:

it looks easy. But in the tutorial they will select google as dns. so i'm confused.
I run some other application/server on the linux system. Does openvpn need a lot of ressources?
There should not be a lot of traffic. it is only to connect my laptop with my homenetwork, to see my iobroker hometerminal.
