Windows SMB SLOW Between Two Clients

Hello!

I have 2 windows clients. On one client I created a folder share. I added this as a drive to the other client. These clients are in the same location and connected to the same router.
It is installed as Open Vpn service on the clients.
If I copy a file from this shared drive to say the desktop. Then it is very slow.
If I disable the VPN service then the copying is much faster..
I noticed that when copying, you use the TAP-Windows Adapter V9 installed by Open VPN, or the OpenVPN Data Channel Offload adapter.
I.e. I don't want to use VPN on the local network, but I want to connect to client machines remotely via remote desktop.

Thanks a lot if you can help me.

Hey man, try to use FTP/SCP or other data transfer protocol, it is not recommended to use the SMB for copying files within the VPN.

Unfortunately this is not a solution, we want to work on the attached drive. PL Excel editing, Word docs etc.

Unfortunately, SMB protocol is always slow over the internet, please find the explanation from the Microsoft Article by clicking this LINK.

Yes SMB protocol is slow remot. It's okey, but this problem is local area network.
Clients are in simple office and they connect a router in the office.

It is still better to use other data transfer protocols than fixing the case of SMB Protocol which is dependent on Microsoft 8-)
