Unifi Dream Machine Pro - connector appears to shutdown after 19+ hours

Post by adjaust » Thu Feb 02, 2023 9:06 am

I successfully configured the Unify Dream Machine connector to Open VPN cloud.

The connector appears to shutdown after around 19hrs and I have to restart it manually (or reboot the router)

Please suggest how to troubeshoot ?

Hello adjaust,

I would suggest to try to obtain the OpenVPN log from this device. The log that contains the output of the OpenVPN process, and likely contains some error message or failure message.

It might be that some simple network connectivity issue is causing the connection to break and that this device does not trigger an automatic reconnect. If that is the case and the logs show this, it would be a matter of implementing a simple watchdog script that ensures the connection gets reconnected after such an interruption. But I'd first check to see if there are any errors that point out any problems that are not related to simply Internet connection interruptions.

Kind regards,
Johan
