OpenVPN Support Forum

I have an iPad Pro.
I emailed a configuration file.
This file works on my iPhones.

When I click on the file, I get an error message that the File Format is Not Supported.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
Restarted the iPad.
Same problem.

Any ideas?

Hi Steve.
On iOS devices .ovpn files are usually imported via the "sharing" option.
Through Files tap on the .ovpn file > tap on the sharing icon ( box with an arrow pointing upwards, usually it's in the bottom left corner) > Select OpenVPN from the list of apps. If you don't see the OpenVPN app right away, then press on the more option, and you should see it under the "Suggestions" section.

I went through this process but it takes for ever to send the shared file. Why that may happen?
