OpenVPN Support Forum

Hi.
I´ve configured a d-link dsr-1000 router as an OpenVPN server. On the client side, I use OpenVPN GUI to connect. Everything works fine, except that I need that the client always connects with the same IP. I have looked everywhere for information, but I have only found the solution with the OpenVPN Server software. I need the solution on the OpenVPN client side.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

On client side this is not possible.
The server pushes configuration to clients.

If you have SSH access to the router it might be possible.
Downside can be firmware updates/changes through GUI overwriting the manual configuration.

Another possibility can be alternative software (think OpenWRT) if the router is supported.

And by the way, the router it is not compatible with OpenWRT.
