RDP to Windows 10 machine running VM dropping

Post by NadJ » Wed Nov 16, 2022 1:03 pm

Brand new install on VMWare Workstation 15 using latest OVA. Imported the OVA, fired up and sitting at the logon screen. RDP connection to my machine, previously stable and already running another VM reliably now dropping out every minute for a minute at a time. I have ping from this machine to the Internet, outbound communication continues. Just RDP being dropped. VNIC interface in Bridged Mode. What could it be?

Hello NadJ,

Technically VMWare Workstation is not supported as it is an image for VMWare ESXi. However, it probably will work.

What tests have you done? Can you do basic ping tests and such? And can you stop the virtual machine and see if the IP then becomes unreachable? Because I'm thinking maybe you have 2 devices on the same IP and they're fighting over it.

You'll have to do some further debugging to figure out what's going on. Also consider running apt update and apt upgrade openvpn-as so you get it to the latest Access Server version.

Kind regards,
Johan
