Could not use user-defined scripts via up/down

I'm unable to use either user-defined scripts.
I. e. I've added line 'up /absolute/path/to/script' directive in my .ovpn config, imported it, but that script is not called and there's line in the logs "UNUSED OPTIONS ... [up] [/absolute/path/to/script]". The same is also valid for 'down' type of scripts.
How can I call custom scripts when the vpn is started/stopped?
