Linux VPN switch to on is momentary - cannot connect to VPN

I have Arch Linux and the Settings/Network/VPN pane has a switch that I can move to the right to turn on the VPN. My OVPN was imported automatically by the "+" on the right hand side of the pane. I checked the "nmconnections" file and it is there. I did this with three OVPN files. The VPN pane is similar to various distributions of Linux that I have seen.

When I move the switch corresponding to the VPN server to the right, it is supposed to stay in that position and that means I have a connection to the VPN server. The problem is that the switch only stays to the right for about one second, then moves back to the left. There is no connection. The internet connection is good and not stopped by a firewall or killswitch.

Is there something I can check? I have edited files with "nano" and have no problems going into the system.

No, this is plain ArchLinux. No derivative. I remember having the same issue on Ubuntu, but that was years ago.

I suggest you report the problem to the NetworkManager support channel.
