VPN on a LiveBoot Environment

Hi there,
i have been trying to start a VPN on a Live booted system. It wont run whle it shows no errors at all when i boot the exact same system without the LiveBoot option.
Does anyone have an idea why that could be? Does the VPN require to write somewhere on the filesystem that conflicts with running in RAM?
