How to define a failover network adapter for OpenVPN client (Windows 10)

Hi OpenVPN experts,

Due to unavoidable reasons I have to use OpenVpn client on a flaky ethernet connection. The unavailablilites can last for couple of seconds, but happens often enough to present a problem. I would like to use my tethered internet connection from my mobile phone as a failover to take over for the couple of seconds of unavailabilty on my ethernet connection.

However, On Windows 10, the OpenVPN client always uses my Ethernet adapter and does not use the second tethered connection. Would it be possible to configure this somehow on Windows?

Looking forward to any suggestions or workarounds!

Details:
Windows 10 21H1
OpenVPN 2.5.4

Openvpn can deal with flaky networks better than a fail-over can in Windblows ..

Is it possible to achieve failover in case of network failure?
