Long story short, I'm moving my NAS from my home network to a friend's house while I'm in between places. I have OpenVPN set up on my NAS, and can access my NAS while connected, but will I need to update any settings once my NAS is connected to my friend's Wi-Fi and not mine?

Yes you need open port and forward that port to your NAS so it can working again . without dong port forward you cant connect and it is not going to work as before.
