re-skin the VPN code

HI, i didn't know really where to post this, i was wondering for a little help if possible.
I am trying to re-skin the VPN code for a friend and fun first of all is this possible, i have downloaded the open source code and the config files and run the config files through the VPN but it has asked me for a username and password o i have to have a login to change the code?. i am studying software so trying to learn.
