OpenVPN Support Forum

I always get this problem I have tried many different ways to fix this.... but None worked!
when I try to install OpenVPN -2.4.8-I602-Win7,(I use windows 7 because i have Windows 8.1) , I always gets this error, after,




Caching service states
Stopping OpenVPN services...

Installing OpenVPN Interactive Service...
Installing OpenVPN Legacy Service...

Extract: tap-windows.exe
Installing TAP (may need confirmation)... <------------ after this I get another tab saying An error occured installing the TAP device driver


and when i open addtap in (C:\Program Files\TAP-Windows\bin)
it says this

C:\Program Files\TAP-Windows\bin>rem Add a new TAP virtual ethernet adapter

C:\Program Files\TAP-Windows\bin>"C:\Program Files\TAP-Windows\bin\tapinstall.ex
e" install "C:\Program Files\TAP-Windows\driver\OemVista.inf" tap0901
tapinstall.exe failed.

C:\Program Files\TAP-Windows\bin>pause
Press any key to continue . . .


I have tried many ways in fixing this like,
editing Regedit, booting in Safe mode, and etc....

Please reply if you know the answer to my problem!! , btw I install TAP driver so I can install VPN's

OpenVPN has never been able to find the exact cause of problems like this .. it can be so many reasons.

If you have a third party software firewall try completely uninstalling that and then try to install openvpn.
