Open VPN Server Connects and works on windows but not on ios.

i have a pfsense router running an openvpn server which works fine on windows after downloading the configuration profile. however, when i try to use the server via the openvpn ios application i cannot use the connection. according to the app there is some data transfer but i cannot load any webpages. i have imported the profile to the app via google drive many times now. It connects but the actual connection does not load anything. whereas on windows machines it does.
