Using OpenVPN Access Server

Dear good evening I wanted to ask you if someone has had the opportunity to use OpenVPN Acces Server

on Ubuntu (or other Linux distro) to create a VPN client - server network, to securely access IoT objects within its Lan and if so how is it found, the authentication system is through digital certificates?
