What to do with MTU test results?

Post by gariac » Fri May 18, 2018 7:56 am

I'm running openvpn on a Digital Ocean VPN running Centos 7.

Empirical MTU test completed [Tried,Actual] local->remote=[1525,1525]
remote->local=[1522,1522]

From the log file:

Code: Select all

Thu May 17 03:32:20 2018 us=740472   tun_mtu = 1500
Thu May 17 03:32:20 2018 us=740480   tun_mtu_defined = ENABLED
Thu May 17 03:32:20 2018 us=740488   link_mtu = 1500
Thu May 17 03:32:20 2018 us=740496   link_mtu_defined = DISABLED
Thu May 17 03:32:20 2018 us=740503   tun_mtu_extra = 0
Thu May 17 03:32:20 2018 us=740511   tun_mtu_extra_defined = DISABLED
Thu May 17 03:32:20 2018 us=740518   mtu_discover_type = -1
Thu May 17 03:32:20 2018 us=740526   fragment = 0
Thu May 17 03:32:20 2018 us=740534   mssfix = 1450
There doesn't seem to be a definitive guide regarding how to use the MTU test output. Can this setup be further tuned?
