Private VPN - Vodafone PT

Post by moody_blue » Wed Aug 03, 2016 10:25 pm

Hi, I have the following setup:

At home:
1) Synology NAS with VPN Server (Synology package) parametrized for OpenVPN
2) Router with port 1194 open and directed to the NAS
On the road: Laptop with Win10 64-bit and OpenVPN-GUI V10

At home I'm using NOS as the ISP. From other homes with same ISP I can login to my home. When I use my phone (Vodafone 4G network) as wifi access-point, the laptop can also login to my home. But when I'm at homes with Vodafone fibre network I can't login to my home. The login process loops every 60 seconds with a timeout. Here is the opvn file:

dev tun
tls-client
remote xxxxxx.ddns.net 1194
# The "float" tells OpenVPN to accept authenticated packets from any address,
# not only the address which was specified in the --remote option.
# This is useful when you are connecting to a peer which holds a dynamic address
# such as a dial-in user or DHCP client.
# (Please refer to the manual of OpenVPN for more information.)
#float
# If redirect-gateway is enabled, the client will redirect it's
# default network gateway through the VPN.
# It means the VPN connection will firstly connect to the VPN Server
# and then to the internet.
# (Please refer to the manual of OpenVPN for more information.)
redirect-gateway def1
# dhcp-option DNS: To set primary domain name server address.
# Repeat this option to set secondary DNS server addresses.
#dhcp-option DNS DNS_IP_ADDRESS
pull
# If you want to connect by Server's IPv6 address, you should use
# "proto udp6" in UDP mode or "proto tcp6-client" in TCP mode
proto udp
script-security 2
ca ca.crt
comp-lzo
auth-nocache
reneg-sec 0
auth-user-pass

Can you help ?

Check your server log for connection attempts.

Private VPN - Vodafone PT (solved)

Thanks for your reply, but the log showed nothing at all. I'm not sure which action solved the problem, but here is what I did:

1) Update the VPN Server package (Synology)
2) Change OpenVPN port (7194 instead of 1194)
3) Use UpNP to open port 7194 in the router (instead of manually opening it)
