OpenVPN behavior on Android phones vs iPhones

The default behavior on an iPhone is to disconnect from wireless and VPN upon going to lock screen. Upon unlocking, wireless reconnects immediately while the VPN takes about ten seconds. During this ten seconds, a lot of unencrypted data is transferred.

For example, I will be logged into my bank on VPN. I will go to lock screen and upon unlocking, my phone will resubmit login data before the VPN is reestablished.

Is the behavior of Android phones the same? I would like to solve this problem but it is not worth it to me to switch unless Android doesn't have this issue.

Thanks!

I use an Android and I have no problem with access the net throught the OpenVPN. But problem is, while I'm conneccted, I can't communicate with other devices on my LAN. I get a timeout error. But everything works when I disconnect from the VPN.

I use OpenVPN for Andtoid app. For me it’s an awesome service for working and home usage. It’s quite difficult to set up. But its multiplatformity and free version remedy the situation. Significantly, the app keeps tunneling by itself, even if the Internet connection breaks.
