Can't enter credentials when logging in

I have exported an ovpn file from my Asus router running OpenVPN server. I require both a certificate and user/pwd.

It works fine importing this ovpn file in Tunnelblick on my Mac. When connecting I get a prompt asking me for user/pwd.

This however doesn't work in the OpenVPN app on my iPhone (running latest iOS). I can import the file but it registers as "Autologin profile". When connecting I don't get a prompt asking me for user/pwd but the connection times out after some time.

I had this working before and if I remember correctly the profile at that time was called "Standard profile" and it allowed me to enter my credentials. How can I get my ovpn file to register as such? Do I need to change something in the file?

I figured that out today. When you create the OpenVPN server in the Asus Router, under VPN details, go to advanced settings (instead of general). Mid way down there is a setting Username/password authentication. If is off by default. Turn it on and then apply. When you export the ovpn file from the router and then import it into the iPhone it will give you the login window. You can enter and save the login there or not save and enter it each time.

That said, I still cannot connect to my Asus RT-AC68U router. It gives a timeout error and is why I came here.

Many thanks for pointing this out. I must have exported the file before setting the username/password option. Now everything works great.
