No Internert (no DNS) VPN connected and working

Post by shadycuz » Mon Aug 31, 2015 6:42 am

Hey guys,

I saw some other post in here similar to mine but I thought I would make a new topic. I have a vpn I set up using the wizard. It worked first time and I was able to VPN into my cloud network and access internal web servers using the ip address in my phone's web browser. I can not however get outside of my LAN. Trying to go to google.com or youtube.com on my phone results in chrome saying a DNS problem.

Not sure how to fix it or what logs you want. Just let me know and I will provide. NAT is working and on for the tunnel network. I checked both boxes when setting up the server so the firewall should be configured correctly (I'm using pfsense on my router). I'm using 2 different networks for my local lan, remote lan and tunnel (so I guess three in general).

From my phone when on the vpn I can access the PFsense webgui (192.168.1.1) but I can not use it as my DNS resolver on VPN, I can not resolve internet address over VPN.

Thanks,
Levi

This is a bad idea:
  • NOTE: your local LAN uses the extremely common subnet address 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x. Be aware that this might create routing conflicts if you connect to the VPN server from public locations such as internet cafes that use the same subnet.
