OpenVPN for Windows Feature Request

Could you have it pop up a dialog window if you're not running as admin and it's trying to add routes? If you're running as a standard user it'll happily halfway work, but it will throw 'Access Denied' in the log(which it actually can't even write cause it's not running as admin) when adding routes and you really don't know that anything's wrong half of the time.

Something that says like "In order for this connection to fully work you will need to run this program as Administrator" or something. Or even set the application to always run as administrator, since it can't even fully operate otherwise, or set it to write it's logs to a proper location for non elevated users like appdata\local\openvpn\logs or something.

It's a pretty easy check to see if you're running as admin.

Plans are in progress to address this sort of issue but for now you can use the OpenVPN windows service.

I second this feature request. OpenVPN doesn't work properly on any Windows beyond XP unless it's running with administrator privileges, so there's no good reason not to install it that way by default. At the very least, the OpenVPN GUI icon that the OpenVPN installer adds to the desktop should automatically have "run this program as an administrator" enabled in its Compatibility tab.
