Ping but no Web traffic

Hello,

I have the OpenVPN Connect iOS client connecting to an openvpn server running on a DD-WRT router. Everything worked fine before. Recently, I've noticed that I am unable to browse the Web on my iOS device over the VPN. However, pings to any IP on the Internet work fine. For example, I am able to successfully ping http://www.google.com (using a ping app on the iOS device), but when I try to browse to http://www.google.com in Safari, the page starts to load (and sometimes loads partially after a long time), but it never completes.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks
cinergi

Check your OpenVPN versions.

Today I noticed that it works fine if my iPhone is connected via Wi-Fi. Over LTE, it doesn't work. Could this be an MTU issue?

Traffic - thanks, I know my OpenVPN versions are mismatched because the most recent available DD-WRT build for my router is somewhat old and I've never bothered to update OpenVPN manually. However, this was never a problem in the past - this behavior is recent.

Thanks

Hey,
I have the same problem. Using openvpn on dd wrt. I can connect with with my iPhone. Ping to 8.8.8.8 and so on is working. Whatsapp is working too. Browsing to the internet fails.
On my PCs browsing via openvpn works. iPhone and client is up to date. I am using the newest version from dd wrt. What can be wrong?

I have exactly the same problem. I am on LTE mobile broadband, VPN connection said "connected" but when I browse any website, it just hangs there forever... I cannot access other devices on my LAN network either...

Just curious what may cause the issue, and moreover, how to make it work?

Thanks in advance for any tips.
