iOS 8.1, openvpn connect 1.0.5, iPhone 6 and iPad Air. (cellular)
Leave home where both wifi and cellular are enabled, openvpn working fine. Turn off wifi and the openvpn doesn't reconnect when it switches to cellular. Reverse happens when come home. Connection hangs and doesn't automatically switch to wifi connection like it should. Worked flawlessly with iOS 7.
Just hangs stating "pausing network unavailable". When I toggle openvpn off and on again, it reconnects fine. Once connectivity state changes, doesn't seem to attempt the reconnect.
- seamless tunnel enabled
- connect via any network
- reconnect on wake up enabled
- protocol adaptive
- compression full
- timeout none
- network state detection active

Correction, it doesn't handle the switch from wifi to cellular but transitioning from cellular to wifi seems to be fine.

Also noticed after extended device sleep on iPhone 6, get "authentication failed" when device wakes. Open on connect app handled without issue in iOS 7. This is with PIA.
Fyi Surfeasys app has been the best of the bunch when it comes to maintaining connection, reconnecting I even of disconnect and handling connection transitions (cellular->wifi and vice versa) flawlessly.

Re: OpenVPN connection persistence bug still present w iOS 8
I have encountered this bug and have more to add.
If I start the OpenVPN connection with wifi and cell on, it will connect and establish a tunnel via wifi. If I then remove the wifi signal, the log states that WIFI is not reachable and the tunnel does not re-establish via cell. So there is no hand over.
If I start the OpenVPN connection with the wifi off and the cell on, it will connect and establish a tunnel via cell service. If I then add a wifi signal, it APPEARS that the tunnel gets re-established over WIFI. If I remove the WIFI signal, it APPEARS as if it reconnects over cell. Notice how I say "APPEARS." After using it this way for a day, I noticed some odd things and looked into it further and in this case, where the tunnel was started over cell, and then wifi is added, the tunnel actually does NOT get re-established over WIFI, rather it stays persistent on the cell network.
So let me repeat. I started OpenVPN on cell, then added WIFI. My phone shows both a cell signal and that it's connected to WIFI. If I connect to the internet and download anything, the cell data count goes up (cellular data being used, not wifi). If I look at the logs, when it connected on cell, it stated wifi was not reachable. When I added the wifi signal, it now says WIFI reachable, but what's odd is that immediately after saying that, it then also tests and finds WWAN reachable and uses that for it's connection.
So for me, switching between cell and wifi is completely broken. I'm on ios 8.1 with the newest version of the app. What's more dangerous is that without delving into it, the tunnel persists over the cell network if initially established there rather than using an available wifi signal that the phone is connected to.

This problem seems to have disappeared for me after disabling seamless tunnel.
Can anyone confirm?
