iOS 8 disconnection bug. Unusable app.

Openvpn has disconnected 5 times just trying to open this account and make this post. On IOS 8 openvpn is completely unusable for me. The log doesn't seem to mention anything at the time of disconnection either. I'm no pro at logs but I do know the time it disconnects there is nothing in the log at all (testing with WIFI). Also this is on an iPhone 4s.

I really hope this is fixed soon because I can't use wifi hotspots with so many disconnections happening. It mainly goes off whenever I use browser apps. Also goes off often when sending photos in messages and also when using app store. It goes off less when I'm texting people though. More often than not, if I leave my phone alone and connected.. It'll stay connected. Using the phone changes everything though.

Just disconnected now at 14:41. Last bit of log is:

100% agree. Don't know if it's the app, iOS 8 or both but it needs to be fixed asap!

I have tested iOS 8.0.2 and it looks like the VPN is more stable than previous versions.

Have you tried to delete the .ovpn files and re-import it again?

Thanks!

Be warned that Apple no longer signs ios 7.1.2, so you cannot downgrade anymore. That means, you will lose your OpenVPN if you install ios 8.

Sorry!

My correction to previous post :

Both OpenVPN and L2TP are still having problem under iOS 8.0.2 when traffic needed, meaning such as using Safari to visit web sites.

There is no problem when doing something else.

BTW, PPTP is working fine.

There was no these VPN issues for iOS Beta 5 and 7.1.2!

Hello,

From our testing the disconnection is a bug in 8.0.1 and 8.0.2.

Apparently when the device memory fills up, iOS 8.0.x will start taking down random processes - one of these is our VPN backend plugin, which will disconnect the VPN if the process is killed.

The problem seems to be fixed on the iOS 8.1 beta, without needing any changes to our 1.0.5 Connect app.

So right now there is no fix other than to wait for Apple to release 8.1.

I updated to iOS 8.1 this morning and, so far, I have not be disconnected.

I think it has been fixed. :D

Fingers crossed.

I agree, I'm running iOS 8.1 on an iPad 2. It terrible. I'm getting extremely slow speed. And disconnection problems still persists for me as well. Plus it kills my wifi, it even disappears from the menubar. And I can't even stream a 5 min video. I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

Sorry for the doubled post. But I couldn't figure out how to edit my previous reply. But mobile data on iPhone gets strangled, it connects, but don't receive any packets.

Good old regular manual PPTP seems delivery twice as fast speed, plus it's stable.

Updated to the latest 8.1.3 and openvpn is unstable all the time. As soon as I open up memory intensive app, it disconnects. It happens on both my iPhone and iPad. Is there any way to mark openvpn process to stay in memory?
