Openvpn app on ipad mini

I have a linux server running on opensuse 12. Have already configured openvpn. Currently able to connect via windows openvpn software.
I'm now trying to connect to the linux server using the openvpn app for ipad.
how do I connect using my ipad mini via openvpn app? I tried adding in the keys I've created for the windows, but it doesn't seem to work. (added the keys into the openvpn app using iTunes)
I've also tried adding in the ip that openvpn creates when connected via windows connection. But still cannot connect either.
The openvpn or privatetunnel doesn't have a upload keys option for me to upload my created keys to the linux server. Or Do I need to purchase the services?
I'm currently using the 2 complimentary keys when registered.
