Tried to rate OpenVPN Connect for Android but failed....

When I opened the app today it popped up a dialog asking me to rate it, which I thought that I could do since it works so well.
But what happened on pressing OK was that I was directed to GooglePlay, on the page for OpenVPN Connect.
Then when I selected a rating star I was presented with a dialog asking me to join Google+ where my rating would be public and so on...
I do not ever want to join any of these social media sites, which totally disrupt my personal integrity!
So how can I positively rate the app without being forced into a Facebook-like social media environment?????
