Unable to connect: ROUTE6: OpenVPN needs a gateway parameter

One of our users using OpenVPN connect on Android is seeing the below entries in the log on connection. We don't have any ipv6 directives in our server config and dozens of users connecting successfully with exactly the same client config. Any idea what could cause this?
