OpenVPN Support Forum

I've read the explanation av http://openvpn.net/index.php/open-sourc ... count.html why the OpenVPN client can't run as non-admin. However, the Viscosity client doesn't have this problem, so obviously it IS possible for an OpenVPN client to run as non-admin. Does anyone have a clue how Viscosity solves the problem?

(I realize that this is the server subforum, but there's no subforum for client questions.)

Nobody knows? Have the Viscosity devs found some totally unknown über-trick to fix this problem?

Yes, I'm sure, I've used it under Windows 8.1. You don't have to start it as admin and there is no UAC prompt. Whatever goes on under the hood fixes the problem. The Task manager->Services view shows that Viscosity uses an associated service.
