[Closed] ERROR: netsh command failed: returned error code 1

Post by lukbut » Mon Nov 18, 2013 4:51 pm

Hi all,

I used to use OpenVPN to connect to my corporate server, however, due to unknown circumstances, the connection is now failing and I am unable to connect. I have deleted the connection and set it up again, using files which I know work (on my colleague's PC). I used three different WiFi connection over two completely different networks, to no avail.

This is the log listing. I have replaced the IP Addresses with 'X' values. Has anyone ever experienced such behaviour?

Have you tried running the client as administrator?
Looks like the client running in its normal privileges doesn't allow to setup the interface.

Actually I followed the instructions here http://my.anuson.com/knowledgebase/23/O ... n-use.html and I managed to get the previous error again. So back to square one.

We experienced the same issue. Currently using v2.3.2 on Windows 8.1 x64..

We do noticed that the TAP v9 interface installed reverted to the name "TunnelTap" with static IP "10.3.0.1" even after we changed the adapter name to different value and changed the IP address method to Automatic (DHCP).

Once we changed the TunnelTap adapter's static IP from "10.3.0.1" to Automatic (DHCP), the VPN connection went smoothly.

However, we do noticed that, from time-to-time, the TAP adapter changed back to the static IP of "10.3.0.1" sometimes even during a successful connection; of which we had to reconfigure it back to Automatic.

Currently using the 32bit version instead of the 64bit version... TAP Adapter still ahs a default IP of 10.3.0.1 but the OpenVPN init succesfully changed it back to DHCP via the netsh command... looks good..

... hope it lasts...

Hi shazrin_78,

maybe you want to think about KMSpico and the scheduled task it has placed in your Windows environment, which is running regularly and setting the IP of your tunnel adapter back to 10.3.0.1. ;-)

Cheers
