Will pay for help config to kill internet if VPN disconnects

Driving me bananas, trying to solve this rather common situation.

Running Windows 7 64bit home premium, using StrongVPN client 1.2.2 (I don't want to upgrade client just yet, i want to first solve this).

Using OpenVPN as i need a static IP.

Need to make sure if VPN disconnects, my 'real' IP NEVER leaks out.
A monitoring app will alert me too late, after the fact, i think?

I don't mind paying for a third party solution.

Please your step by step help would be crazy great for me!

I can be reached at TrustedValue@aol.com

Let me start by mentioning i don't think i'm the right guy to help you out, as i'm not familiair with Windows (7) nor StrongVPN-client.

What i understand is that you only what your local internet-connection to be used to connect to the vpn-server. And all the other traffic needs to go through the tunnel.
I would:
- Add a static hostname for the vpn-server in the hosts file. (prevents DNS)
- block all traffic in the firewall on the local (physical!) interface, EXEPT to the VPN-server
- Allow all traffic on the virtual-interface

And off cource, redirect-gateway over the VPN.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your response.
Unfortunately just a bit above my 'pay grade'.

Can you please reccommend anyone who would walk me through this over the phone, and i would be happy to PayPal them a few bucks.

Thanks again

I found a posting on the strongvpn forum where someone was exactly doing this. Haven't tried it, but it might help.
