How can I transfer the tls-auth key to my iOS device securely via Mail and get it into OpenVPN Connect? Or is the only way to transfer a tls-auth key via a unified configuration .ovpn file?

Create a von profile withe apple iphone configurator. With tgat you can transfer the profile secure over mail.
