Stuck on authorizing

I have my openvpn server setup on ddwrt and am trying to get my macbook pro to connect. My phone and other computer connect just fine. I went in today and created a new client crt and key and it attempts to connect but just sits on authorizing and counts the time. When I pull the certs and keys from my phones configuration it connects just fine. Because this is a newly created cert does anything else need to be changed to allow it to authorize?
