Trouble setting up OpenVPN
Posted: Mon Sep 10, 2012 7:22 pm
Hi,
Hope somebody can help me with my OpenVPN struggle.
I downloaded the Access Server appliance and trying to set it up.
I configured it like this:
Server network settings:
Hostname or IP Address: <my external IP>
eth0: 192.168.10.10
Protocol: TCP/445
SSLv2: disabled
VPN Mode: L3
VPN Settings:
Dynamic IP Address Network: 192.168.11.0/24
Group Default IP Address Network (Optional): 192.168.11.0/24
Routing: Yes, using NAT
Private subnet: 192.168.10.0/24 (which is my subnet)
Should clients be allowed to access network services on the VPN gateway IP address?: Yes
On my router I port forwarded port 445 to 192.168.10.10
When I perform a connectivity test with the services stopped I get:
<i>Test Results for TCP
Result: Success
Explanation: Connectivity between an Internet client and your Access Server was confirmed.
IP Address Tested: <my external IP>
Reverse DNS result: <my external IP>.adsl2.static.versatel.nl</i>
When I perform a connectivity test with the services enabled I get:
<i>Test Results for TCP
Result: Failure
Explanation: Unable to connect from a client on the Internet to your Access Server.
IP Address Tested: <my external IP>
Reverse DNS result: <my external IP>.adsl2.static.versatel.nl </i>
When I try to connect with the OpenVPN client from a windows machine to my_external_ip:445 it gives me an authentication popup and then says connection time out.
I did also configure LDAP authentication. Don't know if that has anything to do with it (I think that's later in the process).
Does anybody have an idea what I'm messing up?
Thanks and with kind regards,
Mark
