Client Connected: PING returns Destination Host Unreachable?

Ubuntu 12.04 VMWare with the latest version of OpenVPN Access Server.

The Web Admin UI "Connectivity Test" comes back successful for both TCP and UDP.

Set up everything according to a guide and it appears to be running correctly. Most of the Web Admin UI settings are still default. Tried giving him both a Dynamic IP (from the 5.5.0.0/20 subnet) as well as a Static IP (from the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet).

A friend logged in fine using my public IP and VPN admin credentials and downloaded the 1.8.3 client when prompted to.

His browser showed both times that he was given the dynamic and static IPs when I wanted them to be assigned to him.

Web Admin UI "Current Users" and "Log Reports" both show him as connected.

PINGing him returns the Destination Host Unreachable message when he was connected with either dynamic or static IP.

Any ideas? I've been racking my brain using guides for both OpenVPN and OpenVPN AS and finally got this far but am now stumped.
