Ubuntu as an OpenVPN client in a different local port

Helo, I have a OpenVPN server working fine with some clients but I must connect an Ubuntu server as a client but with the limitation that there's no port 1194 aviable. We use a shared LAN and admin assigned us the port 6969 to make connection to main openvpn server.
The thing is that we can connect and obtain an IP inside private OpenVPN network (in bridge mode), but ping doesn't work, I guess that's due the local port for the client connection.
I don't know how to say OpenVPN that please use port 6969 for local client to establish the tunnel.
Also I'm not a sysadmin, and I don't have much idea about linuk,
I didn't face any problem with windows clients.
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks in advance.
