Dear All,

I want to setup a VPN server with OpenVPN and PPTP.
(I don't know if these can be run on the same server together?)

This is my server:
HP ProLiant DL120 G7
Intel Dual-Core G850
4GB DDR3
2x250GB SATA2
1 x 1000Mbps Full-Duplex

Now my question is how many users could I put on this server? (besides the download speed)
Does OpenVPN take much resources... or is the only important thing the bandwith connection?

The hardware you have listed there should be able to handle 100+ users. As for the PPTP question, I'll have to leave that for someone with experience with it.

george, thanks for the super fast reply!

So max 100+ users connection the same time (i think?)

I was thinking to have 400-500 users on the server, but normally 1/5 connect the same time, so that would be great! but what if there will be 200 users connecten, will all users have trouble or..? (i did not yet play around with openvpn maybe there is a way to set user connection limits)

openvpn + pptp on the same server is not a problem - I've run that in the past

I want to use the internet anonymously and prevent websites from tracking me. Can someone tell me if a best vpn service is a solution and what company offers the best service? I heard from my friend about vpn services and if possible the company should be reliable with fast connectivity.
