Blocking connections when the OpenVPN connection breaks

I would like OpenVPN to block all connections untill OpenVPN is able to reconnect to the OpenVPN server. Having software connect during an OpenVPN connection break gives away your original IP address and OpenVPN becomes meaningless at that point as far as privacy is concerned.
