I can understand that traffic encryption/decryption can use a lot of cpu power, however and as I said it happens when there's no traffic at all, at least my firewall doesn't detect any traffic, nor any application ping

is there some kind of hidden traffic that my firewall can't see?

how do I contact the developers? thank you

I worked out a fix and want to let everyone know in case someone runs into the same problem

So basically my system was requesting ipv6 address, and these requests were blocked by my firewall, and as long as my system did not get an answer, it would keep sending requests which is the origin of the continuous cpu load while the system was idle

Two workarounds

1. temporarily disable you firewall to let your system have an answer (not safe and not recommended)
2. disable ipv6 to prevent your system from sending these requests

I recommend the later which is much safer

i realise this is an old thread, but i wanted to chime in some comments because i have the same issue - but the VPN isn't even running.

capiws.exe - tied at 12% CPU constantly. i am not connected to anything. i noticed this because the fan in my computer was running constantly. terminated the process and my fans went down to normal (silent) speed.

for reference, this is OpenVPN-AS Connect 2.7.1.101. I don't even have any VPN servers set up in it at the moment.
