Post by Vortex » Wed Mar 03, 2021 6:52 pm

Hello community,

I am newbie on OpenVPN. I installed openvpn-connect-3.2.3.1851_signed on my Windows 10.

To start it requires a file or url and i do not know where from to get it. I am not familiar for that so can help me in please? To configure it correctly?

Thanks in advanced community.

Hello Vortex,

All OpenVPN clients require a server to connect to. That server can be either one of our commercial solutions or an open source server or some third-party VPN service provider that runs a VPN server for you. Just downloading the client app gets you nowhere. You need a server to connect to. And then from that server you can get all the required configuration. You can get it as a .ovpn file for example that you can import from your hard disk, or you can import it directly from a server that supports that action. OpenVPN Access Server and OpenVPN Cloud for example support this.

If you're interested in setting up your own OpenVPN server we encourage you to try OpenVPN Access Server. Either on your own server or in a cloud environment somewhere like Amazon AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, DigitalOcean, and so on. You can find more information on Access Server here: https://openvpn.net/

Kind regards,
Johan
