Connect To Router From Abroad

Would using openvpn make this possible for me to do and any help would be much appreciated?
I would like to be able to connect an Android box, from abroad to my router in the UK and use my Internet connection
from home to access services which block content from not being situated in the UK.
I currently have a subscription paid VPN provider app installed on the android box but the BBC iplayer and ITV Hub
are still blocking the ip addresses from my VPN client.
In my apartment abroad, I have a router which is connected to a Spanish provider and with the android box connected wirelessly,
I can connect to the Internet.
I have a IP CCTV system at home in the UK and I can connect to the CCTV via my home router with no problems. This is achieved by
DDNS through NO-IP provider which came free with my Netgear D6400 router.
Would it therefore be possible for the android box through an app, connect to my router so as I can access the TV catch-up services
through using my UK IP address? I would think through DDNS as well as I have a dynamic IP address.
I have heard about Open VPN might be what I am looking for but I'm not quite sure how to go about it.
I presume I would require the openvpn connect app installed on the android box but how would I force it to connect to my router?
