Failed to connect - iOS 12 Dev Beta 1

Post by medicus07 » Wed Jun 06, 2018 6:58 pm

I just tested my yesterday (iOS 11.4 Final) normally functioning VPN connection...

In iOS 12 Dev Beta 1 it seems to connect... but then the slider in the turns back to "Not connected" immediately.

I'm having a similar issue. All the while the openVPN app is open on iOS12 beta 1 the vpn connection remains active, however as soon as app is sent to background the VPN service disconnects.

+1 I'm having the same issue iPhone x iOS 12 developer beta

Just tried to start VPN by using the slider switch in the Settings -> VPN after selecting my connection and the connection is staying alive.

The solution that danielk suggested doesn’t work for me.

Just to add a note, I do have multiple connections so I actually can open the vpn settings and see the list. That's where it works for me.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to point out this new article in the FAQ page for OpenVPN Connect for iOS:
https://docs.openvpn.net/connecting/con ... PN_Connect
I'm still alive, just posting under the openvpn_inc alias now as part of a larger group.

Post by marcotini » Sat Jun 16, 2018 7:47 am

The app it's not working, it's connect only inside the app but when you click on home button, it's disconnect. How may I investigate?

this has been discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=26521
Please don't open yet another thread for the same issue. However, the issue has been reported to Apple and we're waiting for them to get back to us.

I found a workaround on the current Public Beta. Go in System Settings > VPN and turn it on from there. In my experience the VPN stays connected this way.

Work around does not connect...
OpenVPN first connects without problem, once I leave the app to safari or home screen it disconnects. I can reconnect with no problem, and once I leave the app it disconnects again.

I'm having the same problem as everyone here, and it's going to be a dealbreaker for iOS12 for me until we do have a fix.

But I do have a question... I've read that some are having luck by using the iOS VPN from the Settings. I'm wondering what may be different in your configurations that allows this and if it may be a possible option for me?

I forgot my keyfob coming to the office this morning and typically I can VPN into my company's network and unlock the doors from my iPad. Fun way to find out that the VPN's not working... lol

I'd recommend you all to report the issue to Apple - this is our only way to ensure they assign this problem the proper priority.

hello,

I try this morning the new version of OpenVPN (3.0) with the last IOS beta public 8, and it works. I can connect to my server, switch to an other app, and the VPN still UP.

We've launched Connect 3.0.0 live on the App Store today, from our testing it works correctly with iOS 12 Beta 9 and newer.

Please post here if you see any continuing disconnection issues using the production 3.0.0 and iOS 12 Beta 9 or later.
