Battery usage improvements for iOS app

Post by Nuno18 » Fri Jan 26, 2018 3:09 pm

Hello,
I want to leave my praise to all developers for the excellent work they did shortly after the release of version 1.2.5 to fix the bugs that many have complained about right after the release.

I decided to open this topic to exchange impressions with other users about how the app behaves in terms of battery consumption in your idevices and to question the developers if the application is not possible better to increase the battery life.

I say this because I use the application all day, because I need the VPN always on and since there are some versions that I notice that the application does not have improvements at this level.

In my case I use the app on my iPhone X and iPad Air 2 (LTE + Wifi) both with version 11.2.5 and in the battery statistics in the iOS settings on the iPhone the application is responsible for spending 30% and on the iPad 10% . I do not know what your stats are but I'd like you to share them as well.

What I want to show is that I find impressive the percentage of battery that the application spends on the iPhone, and the iPad is already accepted better.

I challenge developers to try better application performance in order to spend less battery life.

Thanks and continued good work.

I’ve found very similar usage statistics on my iPhone. Currently using 17% of my battery over the past 7 days with only 1 minute of on screen time. There has to be a solution, I don’t remember such high usage on previous iPhones. Currently on an iPhone 8 with latest iOS.

As I looked into it further I found that my iPad has been connected to my VPN for over 245 hours and OpenVPN doesn’t even register on battery usage. I connect it on my iPhone for 8 hours and it becomes either the top or second highest battery usage. Both iPad and iPhone are on the latest iOS.

Can you also get the amount of traffic transferred during those 8 hours and compare it to the iPad?
