Importing TunnelBear profile to OpenVPN Connect

Post by bertles86 » Thu Nov 30, 2017 8:31 pm

I am having trouble importing a TunnelBear OpenVPN profle to OpenVPN Connect on my iPad.

I can successfully unzip the TunnelBear zip file (using FileExplorer) containing the profiles and crt, key etc. to the local storage and then open the profile I choose in OpenVPN Connect.

But then, I get the error message:

Code: Select all

Error loading profile: Inbox/TunnelBear .ovpn
Missing /bad files : CACertficate.crt, UserCerticates.crt, PrivateKey.key
I am using the profiles/key from the TunnelBear Linux zip listed on their own blog.

Can anyone help?

I'd recommend trying the embedded/unified format for keys/certs. Please, have a look here: https://docs.openvpn.net/faqs/faq-regar ... _ovpn_file

Thank you ordex, I have successfully added a working profile via the iTunes method.

The problem I know face is that the VPN connects successfully but I still have my home destination WAN IP not the WAN IP from the territory of the VPN profile.

I think it may be because of IPv6 routing, as I have read in the FAQ, but that suggests editing server.conf and I only have an .ovpn file.

Any ideas on a solution?

well, the VPN per se does not route all the traffic through the tunnel unless instructed to do so.
Therefore the question is: is your .ovpn configured for that? If not, is the server pushing the right setting to passively enable that on the client?
If you are not the server administrator, you should check with him.

I don't think the ovpn is configured for routing.

I downloaded the default file from TunnelBears server here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/tunnelbear/linux/openvpn.zip

And pushed it with the key/certs to OVPN connect via iTunes.

What syntax would I use to add routing?

you can check the "--redirect-gateway" option in the manpage for a better understanding of how it works.

Note: this setting can also be pushed by the server at connection time. That's why I asked about that. If it is pushing such setting, but it is still not working, then something else might be wrong.

downloaded the default file from TunnelBears server
You must contact Tunnelbear about your connection, this forum does not provide support for VPN Service Providers.
