OpenVPN connects from LTE network, but can't ping any addresses on the Server network

I managed to get OpenVPN working.

Setup is

found the culprit..

in the /etc/network/interfaces file.. I had the following entries:

I think (although I am not sure).. I put the wrong dev on those entries.. I should've put tun0 or tun1.. then it should've worked.. but then again.. that route is already present in the table...

now the next issue is that the vpn client cant ping other LAN IPs.. only the vpn server...

most likely firewall or routing issue again... will check again..

Just to update this.. got it to work now... the vpn client can now access the router IP.. as well as the router LAN IPs as well..

what happened was... the other server in the LAN I was trying to reach did have separate openvpn instances, and these openvpn instances had the same IP pool as the ones I have on my router...

so.. when from the vpn client.. pinging the old openvpn machine (and the openvpn instance is still up), the packets get to the old openvpn machine... and doesn't get a reply since there is a "local" instance of the same IP address...

I just disabled / stopped the old openvpn instances.. so that there are no more "local" vpn IPs within that machine...
